Enabling Talkback on Android

TalkBack is a useful Google feature for Android. With this feature, your device tells you what you are clicking on. This is especially useful if you are partially sighted or cannot see your screen. In the steps below, we explain how to enable TalkBack and how to use it.

Enabling TalkBack

  1. Go to settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap 'Accessibility'.
  3. Tap 'TalkBack'.
  4. Tap the slider at the top to enable TalkBack.

The TalkBack gestures

  1. To open the Home screen: swipe up and then to the left.
  2. Go back: swipe down and then to the left.
  3. Go to the multitasks screen: swipe left, then up.
  4. Open the notifications screen: swipe down.

Disable TalkBack

  1. Go to 'Settings'. Since TalkBack is turned on, you will need to tap the icon three times.
  2. Scroll down with two fingers.
  3. Tap 'Accessibility' three times and tap 'TalkBack' three times.
  4. Tap the slider three times to turn off TalkBack.
