APN settings for Android

APN is short for 'Access Point Name'. This is the name of the connection that your provider uses to connect your device to the internet. If your device has problems connecting to the mobile internet of your provider (so not with a WiFi network, but 4G or 5G network), look at the APN settings of your phone. Often the APN settings are set automatically, but this doesn't mean they are always set correctly. In the steps below we explain how to change the APN settings on your Android device.

Change APN settings

  1. Go to 'Settings'.
  2. Tap 'Network and Internet'.
  3. Tap 'Mobile Network'.
  4. Search for 'Access Point Name', 'SIM Settings' or something similar.
  5. Add a new access point.
  6. Enter the settings here. These are different for each mobile phone provider and listed below.
  7. Please note: Not everything has to be filled in. Only fill in exactly what is needed for your mobile phone provider.
  8. Go back and click on the new access point to activate it.
  9. You may have to switch your phone off and on again.
